Hello! My name is Jodie Mitchell. I am a licensed professional counselor. I graduated with high honors from Lancaster Bible College: Capital Seminary and Graduate School with my master's degree in professional counseling in 2016.
I have experience working as a behavioral health technician (formerly known as a TSS) and as a family-based therapist. As a family-based clinician, I worked in a variety of settings including private residences, schools, hospitals, and a variety of other community locations. I have worked with clients from ages 4 to 70, and with assorted client needs: depression, anxiety, mood disorders, relationship concerns, emotional dysregulation, behavioral concerns, anger, autism spectrum disorder, trauma, self-harm, and suicidality. I consider myself to be an eclectic therapist, tailoring the methods that I use to fit each client's unique situation and needs. I often blend methods from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, attachment theory, ecosystemic structural family therapy (ESFT), and narrative therapy in my work with clients. If a client wants to include spirituality or faith in our sessions together, I welcome that as well and allow the client to guide those inclusions. I see my time with clients as a collaborative effort, trusting that together we can work towards the changes that they would like to see in their lives.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband of 25-plus years, our adult children, and our family dog, Cooper. I enjoy hiking, gardening, reading, baking, and being outdoors. As a Delco native, I also enjoy cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, and 76ers.
